Transparency campaigners have demanded a ban on MEPs who have lobbying-related second jobs.

Excerpt:

The Alliance for Lobbying Transparency and Ethics Regulation (ALTER-EU) has [...] recommended a ban on paid, side jobs for MEPs that involve lobbying EU institutions or representing third persons' interests.
The group says that such paid employment could give rise to a conflict of interest. ALTER-EU has also called for a ban on MEPs receiving gifts or what it calls other corporate 'freebies' worth over €50 and the creation of a new ethics committee with independent experts to police the rules.
