The recent 'cash for access' scandal in the UK has highlighted the need for improvements to codes of conduct for elected representatives to restore public confidence in parliamentary democracy.
Four years after the 2011 'cash for amendments' scandal in the European Parliament, and three years after the adoption of Code of Conduct for MEPs, it is time for a review of the rules for MEPs to ensure that conflicts of interest and undue influence are avoided.
Join us for a debate about how to strengthen the rules for MEPs, followed by a presentation of our new guide aimed at helping MEPs navigate the Brussels lobby labyrinth.
Tuesday 31st March, 6-8pm, Room ASP 3H-1, European Parliament, Brussels.
Speakers:
Nessa Childers MEP, Richard Corbett MEP, Sven Giegold MEP, Paul de Clerck - ALTER-EU, Nina Katzemich - ALTER-EU
Moderator: Nikolaj Nielsen, EUobserver
