The Code of Conduct requires an overhaul in order to become an enforceable, comprehensive and effective ethics code for lobbyists. It is currently being treated as merely a 'tick box' exercise for most registrants.
The complaints procedure also needs major reform. Erroneous and incomplete data routinely appear in the register, and there are few sanctions or penalties for inaccurate disclosures. There should be a better functioning (and resourced) complaints mechanism.
