What we do

The ALTER-EU theory of change is based on combining Brussels-based monitoring  and expertise in EU institutional affairs with the national-level knowledge and campaign muscle of its member groups to create well-researched campaign demands which attract pan-European support and which lead to political reform.

We run a number of campaigns, led by members of our Steering Committee:

We work with our member groups to bring these campaign demands to a wider audience.

In 2014, we ran the Politics for People campaign which mobilised over 25,000 EU citizens to get in touch with their European Parliament election candidates. In the end, 1350 candidates and 180 elected MEPs pledged to "stand up for citizens and democracy against the excessive lobbying influence of banks and big business".
