ALTER-EU and a broad coalition of NGOs have shared their concerns about the implementation of the new transparency register of all three institutuions with Commissioner Jourova - and discussed them with her cabinet. Reporting requirements differ a lot depending on what kind of organisation is registering and lobbying expenses are now less transparent than before. Civil society will have to pt pressure on the Commission for quick changes.

ALTER-EU groups have complained to European Parliament (EP) President Schulz about the 'EP Former Members Association (FMA)' openly seeking corporate sponsorship for activities at the premises of the European Parliament, in clear violation of the Code of Conduct for (ex-)MEPs.

The Code of Conduct (CoC) for lobbyists, which registrants of the Joint Transparency Register (TR) sign up to, in its current form, is weak and vaguely worded. It also needs to be revised in light of the new CoC for MEPs, which was introduced on January 1st 2012 (the MEP CoC was introduced after the TR came into being (June 2011)).
