Open letter ALTER-EU to Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President Inter-Institutional Relations and Administration European Commission, about former Commissioner Verheugen's lobby outfit 'The European Experience Company' and the potential conflict of interest that this comprises.

Executive summary / policy recommendations:

Mr. Verheugen continueos work with the European Experience Company is most likely non-compliant with the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union, and constitutes a breach of the Code of Conduct for Commissioners. This case underlines the need for the new Code of Conduct to have clear definitions and procedures preventing conflicts of interest of former Commissioners.

ALTER-EU would be grateful if the Commission would five update an on the status of the inquiry:
- Has the Ad-hoc Ethical Committee finalised its recommendations?
- Has the College of Commissioners made a decision?
- Has Mr. Verheugen been asked to terminate his relationship with the lobby consultancy?
