Too many lobbyists have a background at the EU institutions.

"Our research showed that at some of the biggest lobby firms, more than 50% of staff have a background in one of the EU institutions. Senior ex-officials often join lobby firms after decades at the Commission: the report cites a former director-general, a special adviser, ambassadors and a head of cabinet who have become lobbyists.

Without proper safeguards, we cannot be sure that decisions taken in public office have not been unduly influenced by the prospect of future employment in the private sector."
